1. Who we are

HowMuchJunk.com ("HowMuchJunk", "we", "us") operates a free online tool that gives consumers a junk-removal cost estimate and optionally connects them with local junk-removal companies ("Service Providers"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.

2. Information we collect

Estimator inputs – load size, item types, access details, ZIP code.
Contact details you submit – first name, phone number, email address, preferred pickup date, and notes.
Derived location – city, state, and approximate latitude/longitude resolved from your ZIP via Google Maps.
Usage data – anonymous session identifier and funnel events (started, completed, submitted) used to measure conversion. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

3. How we use your information

Generate your instant cost estimate.
Send you a confirmation email with your estimate and nearby haulers.
Forward your request to up to three local Service Providers so they can quote your job.
Improve the Service (aggregate analytics, debugging, fraud prevention).
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. How we share your information

When you submit the lead form, we share your name, phone, email, ZIP, job details, and estimate with vetted local Service Providers so they can contact you with a quote. Each Service Provider is an independent business and is responsible for its own privacy and communication practices once your information has been shared.

We also use service providers acting on our behalf (hosting, email delivery via Mailgun, mapping via Google Maps). We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration.

5. Communications & TCPA consent

By submitting the lead form and checking the consent box, you expressly authorize HowMuchJunk.com and the matched Service Providers to contact you at the phone number and email address you provided, including by automatic telephone dialing system, artificial or prerecorded voice, and SMS text messages, for purposes related to your junk-removal request. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any SMS to opt out, or use the unsubscribe link in any email.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including California under the CCPA/CPRA and EEA/UK under GDPR) you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, opt out of certain sharing, and lodge a complaint with a regulator. To exercise any right, email privacy@howmuchjunk.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

7. Data retention

We retain lead and estimate records for up to 24 months to facilitate follow-up, dispute resolution, and analytics. Email send logs are kept for 12 months. You can request earlier deletion by contacting us.

8. Security

Data is stored in encrypted, access-controlled cloud infrastructure. We restrict access on a need-to-know basis. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page along with the "Last updated" date.
